Monthly Aid for a Lifetime
Through the CHAMPS Foundation, which supports former international athletes facing financial difficulties, Gavaskar will provide Vinod Kambli with a monthly aid of ₹30,000 starting from April 1. Additionally, Kambli will receive ₹30,000 annually for medical expenses — a support system that is expected to continue for the rest of his life.

In an interview with India Today, Gavaskar expressed his deep concern for young and struggling cricketers. He mentioned that he and his 1983 World Cup-winning teammates consider these athletes as their own sons and grandsons. Gavaskar reaffirmed his commitment to helping Vinod Kambli stand on his feet once again.
Kambli’s Health and Financial Struggles
Vinod Kambli has been battling serious health issues over the past few years. In December, he was hospitalized due to a urinary tract infection and seizures. After spending two weeks in the hospital in January, he was discharged. Following this, Kambli publicly acknowledged his ongoing financial crisis in a candid interview.
