Just two days before Sikandar hit theaters, the much-anticipated South Indian film L2 Empuraan was released and has been making impressive strides at the box office. On the same day, L2 Empuraan earned around ₹1.75 crore, pushing its total India collection to ₹100.10 crore—on par with Salman Khan’s Sikandar.
Released on Sunday, March 30, to coincide with the Eid holiday (instead of the usual Friday), L2 Empuraan opened strong with a ₹26 crore day-one collection. By the end of its first Friday, the film had earned ₹93.75 crore in India. Over the weekend, it added another ₹4 crore and ₹4.5 crore, respectively, crossing the ₹100 crore mark within just 8 days of release. Globally, the movie is now well on track to hit the ₹200 crore milestone soon.
While these numbers are certainly respectable, Sikandar hasn’t quite lived up to the massive expectations usually associated with Salman Khan’s Eid releases. His previous Eid blockbuster, Tiger 3, had raked in a whopping ₹464 crore worldwide.
Still, Sikandar remains one of the top-grossing films of 2025 so far. However, it still trails behind Chhava, starring Vicky Kaushal, which has already surpassed the ₹500 crore mark domestically.
About Sikandar
In Sikandar, Salman Khan plays the role of Sanjay Rajkot, with Rashmika Mandanna portraying his wife. Despite the star-studded cast that includes Satyaraj, Kajal Aggarwal, Sharman Joshi, and Prateik Babbar, the film has received criticism for its lackluster storyline, poor performances, and weak direction.
On the other hand, the Malayalam film L2 Empuraan, which hit theaters on March 27, is going head-to-head with Sikandar and appears to be holding strong. All eyes are now on how Sikandar performs in the coming week.
