MP Abhijit Gangopadhyay Demands Transparency in Recruitment Process

A day after announcing plans to meet the Education Minister, BJP MP and former judge Abhijit Gangopadhyay visited the School Service Commission (SSC) office on Wednesday and held a detailed discussion with Chairman Siddhartha Majumdar.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Gangopadhyay revealed that the conversation lasted over 30 minutes. “We urged the SSC Chairman to publish the list of eligible and ineligible candidates based on the mirror image OMR sheets received from the CBI. The data should be made public and submitted to the Supreme Court as well. Many qualified candidates are facing severe hardship, and it is crucial to protect their interests. The Chairman listened to us with empathy, and we hope he will act accordingly,” said the BJP MP.

Teachers Brutalized During Protest for Jobs; Gangopadhyay Criticizes State Action

Commenting on police action against protesting teachers in Kasba and other parts of West Bengal, Gangopadhyay expressed his anger: “Teachers were beaten mercilessly while demanding their rightful employment. We had hoped the issue would be resolved above politics, but it’s now clear that the administration lacks the will to do so.”

He criticized Education Minister Bratya Basu, stating, “Submitting letters to the minister makes no sense anymore. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is behaving like a feudal lord, shielding those involved in recruitment scams. I strongly condemn the police brutality against teachers. We stand firmly with deserving candidates and will wait for two more days for a proper response.”

Interestingly, just a day prior, Gangopadhyay had announced plans to meet the Education Minister and offer assistance in identifying ineligible candidates, claiming he was willing to rise above political lines for justice. However, after his SSC visit, he changed his decision and tore up the letter he had prepared for the minister.

Protesters Demand OMR-Based List Publication

Outside the SSC office, job-aspiring teachers held a press conference and raised strong demands: “Ineligible candidates must be removed from schools. The integrity of West Bengal’s education system must be restored. Our demand is simple—publish the OMR-based list of eligible and ineligible candidates on the SSC website. Until the Chief Minister assures us of a review of the Supreme Court order and restoration of our jobs, our protest will continue. We plead with the police not to beat us—we are already broken.”

Suvendu Adhikari Slams State Over Police Assault

Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari also condemned the police assault on unemployed teachers. In a fiery statement, he questioned the police’s actions: “Why were deserving unemployed teachers assaulted? Police must answer!”

He further shared a post on social media, writing, “In protest of the brutal lathi charge on qualified teachers by Mamata’s police, BJP MLAs marched to Lalbazar today. Shockingly, they were dragged and arrested forcefully. I want to remind Mamata Banerjee—this is not how you silence dissent. The BJP will intensify its movement against the corruption in your government with the support of the people.”

Shuvendu’s Bold Promise: Jobs Within a Month If BJP Comes to Power

Adding fuel to the fire, Suvendu Adhikari made a bold claim: “If BJP comes to power in West Bengal, we’ll make golden arrangements for all unemployed deserving candidates within one month.”
