Once celebrated as a symbol of everlasting love and partnership, legendary boxer Mary Kom and her husband Karung Onkholer are now rumored to be living apart. The alleged separation reportedly began after Onkholer’s defeat in the 2022 Manipur Assembly Elections.
Mary Kom Moves to Faridabad with Children, Onkholer Resides in Delhi
According to reliable sources, Mary Kom has relocated to Faridabad with their four children, while Onkholer currently lives in Delhi with his family. A close acquaintance told Hindustan Times, “Their disagreements intensified after the election. They reportedly suffered a financial loss of ₹2–3 crore during the campaign, which deeply upset Mary following Onkholer’s defeat.”
Political Entry Not His Choice, Says Insider
A family source revealed that Onkholer was initially reluctant to enter politics. “It was Mary’s idea. He never wanted to contest and warned her about Manipur’s unstable political climate,” the source said. After the loss, arguments escalated, eventually leading to Mary moving out with the children.
Divorce Speculations and Alleged New Relationship
Though no official statement has been made, rumors suggest Mary Kom might be involved with another man. An anonymous boxer said, “This might be more than a rumor. People believe Mary is close to another boxer’s husband, whom she has featured in her Instagram posts as a business partner.”
Onkholer Reportedly Emotionally Distressed
Friends of Onkholer say he is emotionally struggling and not allowed to meet his children. One insider shared, “He sacrificed his football career for the family and supported Mary’s career, but now he’s heartbroken and mentally drained.”
A Love Story That Once Inspired Bollywood
Mary and Onkholer met in 2000 in Delhi, when he helped her after she lost her bag before a competition. They married in 2005, had twin sons in 2007, another son in 2013, and adopted a daughter in 2018. Onkholer gave up his football career to raise the children while Mary pursued boxing glory, winning six World Championships and an Olympic bronze.
Their story inspired the 2014 biopic Mary Kom, starring Priyanka Chopra. Mary has often described Onkholer as her “pillar of strength.”
